Detailed itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Cochin
Arrive at Kochi (also known as Cochin), the commercial capital of Kerala. Transfer from railway station/airport to your hotel and check-in. Spend the day exploring the city’s historic sites, such as Fort Kochi, Mattancherry Palace, and the iconic Chinese Fishing Nets. In the evening, visit Lulu Mall for a bit of shopping. Dinner and overnight stay in Kochi.
Day 02: Cochin – Munnar
After breakfast, drive to Munnar, a scenic hill station nestled in the Western Ghats. Enjoy the picturesque landscapes, never ending expansions of lush tea plantations, and mist-covered hills along the way. Visit the tea gardens and learn about the tea-making process at a tea factory. Pay an afternoon visit to Rajamala- house of the highly endangered mountain goats – the Nilgiri Thars. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay at Munnar.
Day 03: A Day in Munnar
Good morning in Munnar! Explore the charming town of Munnar and visit attractions like Echo Point and Mattupetty Dam. The dam is flanked by forests and vast expanse of grass land on one side and the Kundala tea plantation on the other. Overnight stay at Munnar.
Day 04: Munnar – Thekkady
After breakfast, depart for Thekkady, known for its wildlife sanctuary and spice plantations. Take a boat ride on Periyar Lake (extra cost) around which the sanctuary is built where you can spot various wildlife species, including elephants, tigers, and birds. Overnight stay in Thekkady.
Day 05: Thekkady – Kumarakam/ Alleppey (Backwaters)
Enjoy your breakfast, drive to Kumarakam/ Alleppey., known as the “Venice of the East” for its backwaters and houseboat cruises. Check in to the hotel by noon and embark on a delightful motor boat cruise journey (at your own cost) through the enchanting and legendary backwaters of Kerala to enjoy the scenic views. You can experience the unique charm of floating through the backwaters, surrounded by lush greenery. Overnight stay at Kumarakam/ Alleppey.
Day 06: Kumarakam/ Alleppey – Kovalam
Check out after breakfast and disembark and head to Kovalam, a renowned beach destination. The day is at leisure. You may relax on the pristine beaches of Kovalam and soak up the sun or visit the iconic Lighthouse Beach and explore the lively beachside markets. You can also enjoy an Ayurvedic massage for relaxation and rejuvenation (own cost). Overnight stay in Kovalam.
Day 07: Kovalam – Trivandrum – Kovalam
After breakfast, take a day trip to Trivandrum (also known as Thiruvananthapuram), the capital city of Kerala. Visit the famous Padmanabhaswamy Temple, known for its intricate architecture and religious significance. Explore the Trivandrum Zoo, Napier Museum, showcasing an impressive collection of ancient artifacts and art. Spend some leisure time in the city, shopping for souvenirs or exploring local markets. Return to Kovalam for an overnight stay.
Day 08: Departure from Kovalam
After breakfast, check out from your hotel. Transfer to Trivandrum International Airport for your onward journey, carrying beautiful memories of your Kerala trip.
